[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]IUC wishes you a Happy New Year 2020 – we are ready to embark on a number of project activities in the coming year – from small network activities, to meetings, seminars, conferences etc.
In January IUC will take part in the important conference on Digital Denmark, organised by Think Tank
Europa http://english.thinkeuropa.dk/ The conference gathers organisations and people, who work actively for the European agenda. Main speakers will be Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and EU Commissioner Margrethe Vestager and many more. The Think Tank recently appointed its new director Lykke Friis, a well known expert in European politics, who lately worked as a correspondent in Berlin.
Under preparation with a group of students/alumni from MEP BSR (Model European Parliament Baltic Sea Region) is a seminar in Copenhagen in spring (April 25th), where we will gather our Nordic/Baltic network as well as guests from Austria and Belgium – permanent members of a long time. Each country in the region (and outside) will be invited with experienced students and 1 teacher, whose job will be to discuss the development of our organisation – when it comes to media communication, social platforms, innovative elements, background info (fact files) about the EU and how it works etc. – A working seminar which will be defined by the people present. Also the seminar will plan the MEP BSR conference in Kaliningrad, Russia, in October 20 – for 10 years we have had a very important partnerschool here, and this will be the 3rd time we go to K. The Russians have taken part in our conferences for a long time, and the intercultural communication/work between young people from regions like Scandinavia, Baltic States, Germany, Austria, Belgium with Russia is invaluable and cannot be underestimated. The students will identify the important topics to be discussed – usually, ask questions and find links for background information.
Another interesting event is under development – our long-time Waves consultant Tyler Adkins and his colleague Rusty Willette closely connected to the Democratic Party in Maine, US, have suggested that Governor Janet Mills visit DK – there are strong ties between Maine and DK – educationally, politically, privately. The visit is being discussed – more about this later.
Recently IUC has joined a new organisation “Arbeit an Europa”, founded in Germany by young writers and journalists with focus on European ideas and values – https://arbeitaneuropa.com/ check it out, there are links in English too.
In conclusion I would like to thank IUC´s friends, colleagues I have worked with this year, my board and not least and in particular consultants Christin Knüpfer, Andreas Guidi, Tyler Adkins, Lawand Namo, Magdalena Tashkova, Micky Wang, Ifor Molenhuis and my daughter video journalist Line Nørgaard. As a small non profit organisation we are entirely dependent on volunteer help – I cannot thank you enough for help, inspiration, much work and engagement.
