Global Seniors, Denmark (GS) is a network of senior professionals with a strong international commitment. Most of the networkers have been dealing with international affairs most of their lives. Global Seniors, Denmark is a non-profit organization founded on the 19th of March 2013. Our mission is to bring our pool of international experience into action in public discussion, in education and to carry these experiences on to the next generations. GS also offers advisory services to other NGOs. GS considers that the challenge of globalization will create great possibilities for growing cooperation and development in the world. In this perspective, international experience and skills are more needed than ever.
Our vision is a world built on solidarity, with growing equality, democracy and sustainability. We support human rights, workers’ rights and other fundamental rights as expressed in international conventions. Our members represent different fields of international work. Many have experience from development cooperation. Others have been engaged in the European Union, EU, being official representatives in EU or dealing with Danish politics towards EU. Others again have been working with solidarity and international cooperation in Trade Unions, other Danish Civil Society Organizations or in international organizations such as the ILO, the WHO or the United Nations.
Finally, some members have been in the service of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We consider this broad mix of different work experiences to be the core strength of GS. The Europe/EU group Global Seniors, Denmark (GS) carries out its activities in different task formations. The over-all idea of the Europe/EU unit is to set up face-to-face meetings at grass roots level with people of other European countries to understand their daily lives, their points of view and their relations to other peoples in Europe.
IUC´s Nina Nørgaard coordinates a GS study trip to Krakow in May 2019, which will include meetings with politicians, organisations and movements in Poland. IUC has long time experiences from study trips and networking with Polish contacts.
