The Summer Academy on Intercultural Experience isorganized by the Karlshochschule International University and InterCultur gemeinnützige GmbH in cooperation with Stiftung Mercator and approaches relevant topics in the field of intercultural management, communication and training and is intended to foster the intercultural perspective within the field of management studies as well as to develop applied solutions for the problems in business and society.The fifth Summer Academy will take place for two weeks, from August 4 to 15, 2014 and students could enroll for either one or two weeks.

The Summer Academy brings together scientists, practitioners, and students to work together on the following questions.
- What are the major themes in intercultural communication, what has been done regarding the globalisation process, how has communication changed? How are cultures constructed, what are their origins and how do people perceive the world, how can we solve the problems that arise when different cultural values meet?
- How do management and the world of business react to the intercultural challenges in a world of growing complexity?
- What are important learning and teaching styles in different cultures? What is important in intercultural groups when it comes to teaching on intercultural competence and to curriculum design?
The Summer Academy comprises lectures on intercultural communication, intercultural conflict management, intercultural project management, acquisition of intercultural competence as well as on intercultural trainings. All courses have complementary workshop sessions with theoretical and practical content offered by lecturers and trainers which are experts with large experience in international environments.
