IUC acts as an administrative coordinator for the MEP BSR, the Model European Parliament Baltic Sea Region organisation – working with youth parliaments in 11 countries in the Northern part of Europe. High school students meet twice a year to discuss current political topics related to the EU. In the upcoming session in Riga, Latvia, foreign policy (Syria e.g.), immigration, sustainable energy systems, protection of women ́s rights and the inclusion of young people in decision-making processes will be debated. The workshops/committees are entirely run by experienced students, and the results/resolutions are presented and debated in the Youth Parliament – the General Assembly. The regional organisation is part of the pan-European MEP, which includes EU member and applicant states.
In the autumn the session will take place in Kaliningrad, Russia.
